| As my entries become fewer and further apart, I've come to realise that I just don't have the time for a weblog anymore. It's been a great few years and huge thanks goes out to Xanga and all the readers. This is a really important year for me and the next few months will be filled with a lot of hard work. But hopefully, I'll get my grades, get into university (LSE, fingers crossed!) and maybe, just maybe, this site will be resurrected... Much love, Nilanthi xxx | | |
| Yes - indeed...I have been out and about quite a lot for the past few weeks and I know it will come back and haunt me. But, in my defence, it's not my fault that everyone seems to be turning 18 in January or February! I went to a really nice birthday party for my friend, Jade, yesterday. It was somewhat of a family gathering with a ratio of 5 family members for each friend. But myself and three of my friends made our presence known by dancing the night away, even when no one else was! School life is going pretty well . I've had three offers from universities and am still waiting to hear from three. During the half term holidays (which is in two weeks), I'm going to see my sister in her new house in Edinburgh and pay a visit to St Andrews while I'm there to see what they're university is like. They are one of the universities who are taking their time to get back to me, but I'll wait. February half term holidays also means that I'll be seeing some of the friends I made during my trip to Poland. True, it was meant to be a complete reunion but at the moment, the only people are coming are two people from Poland. But, the same thing happened in October last year, and we had a proper hoedown - so I'm excited. I'm sticking to my New Year's Resolutions, having kept swearing to a minimum. I went to see the musical, 'Wicked' on Tuesday and in a few hours, I'm going to see 'The Lion King'. I think I'll see my six by summer, the rate I am going now! N x | | |
| Well, these holidays have just flown by. I've spent most of the time relaxing, trying to fit in a bit of revision now and again. Today, I went to the temple to pray for various things and then went to visit the family. The last week of school was pretty easy. The Christmas concerts went well, the play I saw was really good and the sixth form entertainment that we had to provide for the rest of the school on the last day was really enjoyable. And I handed it my psychology coursework, so now that's one load of my mind. For New Year's Eve, I made a reservation at TGI Fridays for a large group of us. The plan was to have a meal and then go to London to see the fireworks...but at 11pm, we were still waiting on dessert, so about half of us decided to welcome in the New Year at the restaurant, while some others went to a party elsewhere. Overall, it was a wicked night, and a nice change from the usual quiet NYEs I spend at home. Photos may follow shortly. I was meant to do a full year in review for 2006 because I honestly believe that it's been the best year so far. But since I don't have the time, energy and decent memory span to do it in great detail, I'll highlight some of the best bits of 2006 for me: - Making some really close friends who I had only really met from September 05.
- The success of the Young Enterprise company I was in, 'Opus'
- Turning 18 and experiencing the joy that it clubbing!
- Getting straight As for my AS Levels.
- Winning a trip to Poland, where I made some excellent friends who I still keep in touch with.
- Going to the Maldives...again! But this time, with my sister!
- Acting in the school musical.
- Being selected as school librarian.
- Getting yet more piercings done (ears and belly button)
- Getting me a man.
With all that has happened last year, I can only hope that things will be twice as good this year. As for New Year's Resolutions - I have two: - Stop swearing.
- Go to see 6 musicals/theatre productions/gigs/concerts
Looking back on my prevous resolutions, I've realised that I didn't really concentrate on any of them because shortly afterwards, I created another one, which was to visit 6 new restaurants. You'll be glad to know I did that (as of December 24th 2006) but as for the other resolutions, well... N x

PCD and Rhianna at Wembley was awesome! We were sitting in the main body of the arena but were on our feet for the whole thing. Rhianna was first on, and she was a real crowd warmer. Even though my friends are not HUGE fans of her, we still danced along to 'SOS' and 'Pon de Replay' and mimicked her singing 'Unfaithful', paying particular attention to the line, 'I might as well take a gun and put it to his head - get it over with'... But, of course, we wanted the Pussycat Dolls, and at around 9:30pm, they came on. We danced. We sang. We listened to them give us inspirational speeches. We let them 'Show us what they Got'. Fun times were had by all. Since then, I've been to a psychology conference in London, which was surprisingly more interesting than I would have imagined. The talks on topics such as 'the psychology of luck', and Freud's theory of 'Why we buy Melons' were very enjoyable and the hypnotist at the end was a perfect way to finish. Next week is my last full week in school, which will consist of finishing up psychology coursework, rehearsing for the school christmas concert, watching a play and..doing some other bits and pieces, which I can't quite remember now. | Blood donation went smoothly - no faint feelings of faint afterwards and I got to eat biscuits...mmm... Last week, the main highlights was Parent's Evening, which I was initially dreading but then had a great time because I received lots of praise from my teachers, and book day on Friday, where everyone in school was allowed to come in dressed up as a book character. And a group of us came in as the main characters from 'Lord of the Flies'. Despite the fact that we didn't win anything, I still had a blast walking around dressed up as a school boy with a conch hanging from my belt! Friday to Sunday was a bit hectic. As it was my friend's 18th on Friday, we went out to this restaurant for dinner (my 6th new one this year - thereby completing my New Year's Resolution to visit 6 new restuarants this year!). On Saturday was WHSmith's christmas party, which was held at TGI's and a good time was had by all. On Sunday, I went to my school's craft fair and managed to find this amazingly cool pair of maroon tights with a line of music running up each leg. I can't get over them - I just love them so much, I went around school parading them on Monday! The rest of this week has been somewhat boring, but it's all been leading up to tomorrow. 1st December. Most people will recognise it as World Aids Day, but it's also the day that: - My sister moves into her new house in Edinburgh.
- My friend takes part in a concert.
- Another friend has her university interview at Cambridge.
- I go to see 'The Pussycat Dolls' with two of my friends!
Tomorrow also reminds me that I only have nineteen days to work on my coursework and about a month and a half until my retakes. But we won't think about those things just yet. N x
